How the procedure is done

Recovery period

Typically, a patient will be asked to wear bandages for several days. You will have to wait for the removal of the bandages before you can wash your hair or shower. The head should be kept elevated while lying down for at least two days. You will also be asked to apply an ice pack to minimise the swelling. Your doctor will prescribe an ointment for the incision areas, as well as pain killers.
Typically, stitches are removed one to two weeks later and you may return to work after 10 days.
