Special sealants are now available for asbestos roofs to give them a few extra years of life. Asbestos roofs are brittle and subject to breakage from tree branches. Do not agree to any work if the contractor is not appropriately licensed.
2. When hiring a contractor, ask about the insurance aspect of the job while the roof is being replaced. The insurance should cover house and contents, as well as tradespeople.
