All golf players have one thing in common — confidence. It’s the most important part of a great performance on the golf course. Take these basic steps in developing your confidence on the golf course.
Believe in yourself.
You always have to keep in mind that you’re a great golfer. Believe in yourself at all times. Start to beat yourself up over your mistakes and it will surely regain positivity. At every end of each round, learn from your mistakes and think how you can improve it. The more frustrated you become, the longer it will take you to regain that lost confidence.
Practise.
Spend time on the driving range and hit each practice shot as though you’re on an actual course and the stroke counts. As you improve your swing and start to see better results on the range, your confidence will naturally grow. Take note of specific parts of your swing that’s needed to be improved. You can head to the range as often as possible if you’re still struggling with confidence and soon you’ll find yourself expecting to hit great shots.
Visualise success.
Every shot should have a purpose. You should synchronise your mind and body with a clearly defined objective. You have to see with your mind the ball in flight toward your target after taking the precise swing you need to create.
Get out of your comfort zone.
Overcoming nerves, doubt and fear will make you stronger and more confident. When you put yourself in situations where you’re out of your comfort zone and pulling through, your confidence will increase in the longer term. Rely on your pre-shot routine under pressure and try it as often as you can.
Keep a record of what went well.
You should be honest with yourself on the things that you need to improve but think mostly about what you did well. Additionally, if you keep this practice up, you’ll create a nice record to look back to for an added confidence boost anytime you find yourself really struggling.
