The installation procedures for suspended ceilings will vary according to the product you have purchased and planning to install. However, the installation of these products have a few steps in common. Here's a brief rundown of these steps.
1. Measure the area where the suspended ceilings will be installed. It would be easier for you and the supplier to estimate how much material you will need if you can provide a scale drawing.
2. Next, you'll need to choose a brand and model that suits your personal preference.
3. Once your order has been delivered, make sure to set the materials within easy reach and separate the components of the package. After this, carefully read the manufacturer's instructions so that you will become familiar with the steps that you need to undertake.
4. After this, you can begin working around the work area's perimeter. With a tape measure and level, determine the ceiling height and make the appropriate markings on the wall.
5. Next, install the L-shaped perimeter brackets according to the instruction manual.
6. Once the perimeter brackets have been affixed using either nails or screws, the next components that you need to install are the runners. Take note that you need to carefully measure these in order to ensure that they are installed in a parallel manner and are spaced equally. Make sure to install the runners such that the panels on either side of the walls have the same size.
7. Once the runners have been installed, you need to install the cross runners.
8. After this, the next component to install are the suspension wires which support and carry the weight of the ceiling. Do note that depending on the actual product you purchased, this step may be done before the installation of the runners. Before proceeding with the final step in the installation process, call in your electrician for any electrical installation.
9. Before installing the panels, make one final check to ensure that you made the correct measurements. If you need to cut the end panels, you can use a retractable knife. Afterwards, you simply lay the panels in place.
