The Australian Dental Association was established in 1927, when the Odontological Society and the Registered Dentists' Society merged together. Member of both society's were ethical dentists in the need for united professional activities. Today the Association is widely known and respected. It represents dentists in private practice, Universities, Armed Forces, Government Service, Public Hospitals and many more!

The affairs of the South Australian Branch are conducted by a Council of members elected annually. The work of Council is aided by various committees.
