Bennett Constructions’ founder, Frank Bennett, moved to the Northern Rivers of New South Wales in 1936 to accept a position as Clerk of Works.

In 1938, Frank’s drive and determination were realised in the establishment of his own construction business, specialising in commercial projects.

In the years that followed, Frank earned a reputation for keeping promises, delivering top-quality work and making a positive contribution to both his profession and the community.

In 1956, Frank welcomed his son, Col, to the business. Col’s contribution proved instrumental to the company’s growth and cemented the reputation that Frank had nurtured.

In 1959, Frank and Col formed a partnership that endured until Frank’s retirement in 1963. At this time, the business reins were passed to the capable hands of Col.
In the decades that followed, the business steadily expanded, with Bennett Hire, Bennett Paint and Hardware and Bennett Cranes all established to complement the activities of Bennett Constructions.

Upon Col Bennett’s passing in 2003, his wife, Margaret, became the sole owner of the business. Her commitment and dedication ensured that Bennett Constructions continued to grow and enjoy a well-earned reputation for excellence.

A new page in the business’ proud family history was added in 2005 when Margaret’s son-in-law, Darryl Piper, was appointed Managing Director.

In 2006, a strategic decision was made to sell the Hire and Crane divisions, enabling the business to focus its expertise and resources upon commercial construction activities.

This decision has seen Bennett Constructions go from strength to strength, earning prestigious industry awards for their commercial building projects.
