The C.D.A.C. is the brainchild of Dr. David Curnock formerly of Cairns City Dental. Dr. Curnock is Cairns’longest serving and most experienced dentist, who sought to fill a void in general anaesthetic dentistry in Cairns, and offer his patients the most modern private general anaesthetic dental facility in the country.

Dr Curnock has been practicing dentistry in Cairns since 1973, and has always had a special interest in general anaesthesia for the treatment of patients who are not suitable for local anaesthetic procedures.

These patients include those who need more complex dental surgery (such as wisdom teeth removal and multiple extractions), young children requiring fillings and / or extractions, special needs patients (we are on the ground floor, with easy wheelchair access), and those who simply cannot tolerate dental procedures.

Dr. Curnock has completed almost eight thousand anaesthetic cases to date and has witnessed first hand the development of anaesthesia as it applies to dentistry, from the primitive “doctor’s bag”, to the latest sophisticated machines and monitors. Since general anaesthetic dentistry began in Cairns, there has never been a purpose built general anaesthetic dental surgery which has been up to hospital standard, in that all previous G.A. dentistry facilities in Cairns have been regular dental surgeries adapted to suit part time anaesthetic sessions. Now there is a facility which has been purpose built for general anaesthetics with the most modern state of the art dental equipment.
