Darwin Military Museum was founded in the 1960s by Lieutenant Colonel Jack Haydon and other members of the Northern Territory branch of the Royal Australian Artillery Association. The Association started accumulating war memorabilia from all over Australia and internationally. Since then, several collectors have also contributed greatly to the museum’s exhibits including the newest The Defence of Darwin Experience (DDE).

The Defence of Darwin Experience tells the story of the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese on the 19th February 1942. See and explore the incredible collection of artillery pieces, vehicles, uniforms, models and paintings than have a visit to the shop and cafe after.
