Dr. William Cockburn is a highly experienced and caring Plastic Surgeon. Training entails an eight-year programme of post-graduate training supervised by the Royal Australian College of Plastic Surgeons. He is now a senior figure in the Plastic Surgery community and has been both counsellor and past President of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.

After graduating as a Medical Practitioner in 1979, Dr. Cockburn commenced basic training at the Royal Brisbane and Children’s Hospitals. In this phase, he experienced all aspects of Surgery with experience in all the sub-specialities. In 1984 he spent a year in General and Orthopaedic Surgery at Toowoomba Base Hospital. He then began advanced training in Plastic Surgery at the Royal Brisbane & Children’s Hospitals and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In 1987 he was the Monash Fellow in Plastic Surgery in Melbourne, before completing his training at Frenchay, Bristol, United Kingdom. Dr. Cockburn completed his advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery passing the fellowship in 1989. In that year he returned to Australia and became visiting Plastic Surgeon to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he continues to this day in part-time public practice. His private practice is located on the Wesley Hospital campus, in the Sandford Jackson Building, Chasely St, Auchenflower. Dr. Cockburn practices Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, including head and neck cancer, skin cancer, breast reconstruction and all aspect of cosmetic surgery.
