The late Norman McCarthy was the founder of Smithfield RSL Club. In the early 1950’s he gave the Sub Branch of the RSL ,a triangular shaped block of ground which for many years stood the Skylight Lounge (Now Bar 360 Sports).Norman also loaned the Sub Branch the amount of $2000 to erect a building on this site. For the nominal amount of $160, he also sold the Sub Branch the block of ground which for many years stood the Billiard Room (Now Roulette Gaming Room) and the land right through to Neville Street.
