It was easily our fastest selling release and was somewhat bittersweet, as we fielded hundreds of requests after it was gone from poor souls hopeful that we had a spare bottle or two hiding somewhere. This sister barrel has been a long time coming with Covid and its impact on international freight throwing a spanner in the works but we’re confident it is well worth the wait. This single barrel is summed up in one word - more. More caramel. More vanilla. More toffee. More wood spice. More rich dark fruits. If anything the nose takes a little longer to open up but when it does it’s genuinely mouth-watering. The palate is flush with all those classic bourbon flavours and this whiskey is blessed with a very long finish. Long enough that it still fills the mouth when you go back for that second sip. As a lot of you know, Buffalo Trace is aged on an average of 6 to 8 years - this single barrel is aged for 8 years and 3 months - nudging the limits of its big brother Eagle Rare.
