REZUM - minimally invasive treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
REZUM is a minimally invasive treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), which is the enlargement of the prostate gland that can cause urinary symptoms like frequent urination, difficulty urinating, and a weak urine stream. REZUM uses water vapor therapy to treat BPH and reduce these symptoms. The treatment takes less than 10 minutes and is done under conscious sedation (no general anesthetic needed).
REZUM is ideal for men who want a minimally invasive treatment that doesn’t require hospitalization and retains sexual and ejaculatory function (a common side effect of other treatments).

How it works
Water Vapor (Steam) Treatment: During the procedure, a small device is inserted into the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder). The doctor uses the device to deliver water vapor (steam) directly into the prostate tissue. The steam is applied to the enlarged prostate tissue, causing it to shrink. The heat from the vapor destroys the excess prostate tissue, which helps open up the urethra and improve urine flow.
REZUM is usually done with local anesthesia or sedation to make the patient comfortable.
